Finding Your Purpose
Listen now
Description
Purpose, according to William Damon, the director of the Stanford Center on Adolescence, is defined as "a stable and generalized intention to accomplish something that is at the same time meaningful to the self and consequential for the world beyond the self". In a world where educators are anxious, depressed and discontent at the system they’ve found themselves in and where students are either under immense amounts of pressure or feel disengaged, it is crucial that teachers rediscover their purpose. In this episode, we discuss how difficult it is for one to choose their own career path, the role of schools and education systems in helping children experience what it is like to work in different sectors, the weaknesses in the current education system that prevents students from either preparing themselves to the demands of the workplace or anticipate the requirements of the field, the need to re-imagine education to increase both the teachers' and pupils' engagements, and finally we seek to give solutions to solve the problems previously mentioned. As usual, hope you have an amazing day!  As promised, below are the some of the articles and blogs that I've read that you can check out: a.
