This show is kinda missing the mark for me
I just listened to the Maria Bamford episode. She is one of my favorite comedians and a total genius so I was really looking forward to it. I know its not intentional, but I found the host to be rather paternalistic and “othering” in his attitudes towards Maria and also mental illness. I think this show would be helped tremendously if the host were someone who actually had personal experience with these subject matters. He instead comes off as kind of a morbid tourist and happily declares that Maria is a good girl who is on her pills now, thank god because mental illness is a savage beast!. I’m glad she’s found something that works for her..but the way it was summed up in the show felt really gross to me. I am a person who has suffered with mental ills for most of my life by the way.

I can't even try another episode. If you deal...Read full review »
