“Deeply disappointed after listening and re-listening this podcast for years. I was under the impression that after researching countless atrocities committed in China’s history, your moral compass would have been properly adjusted. Unfortunately, you failed to recognize the difference between 10 millions being displaced and tens of thousands murdered in Ukraine and stupid decisions of a Communist bureaucracy. Referring to unjustifiable rape and torture of civilians as ‘flashy titles’ is as inhumane as what is being committed by authoritarian regimes. I’m unsubscribing because You’ve devalued yourself in my eyes, which is likely just a result of your sinicization.
P.S. We’ve experienced a similarly devastating 1-month-long total lockdown in Saigon last year (with barred doors and no deliveries), though it evidently wasn’t as ‘flashy’ as the one in Shanghai. So there’s that.”
