Captivating and Informative
This podcast is absolutely outstanding for a few reasons: 1) The production quality is superb, with strong audio and excellent delivery by the narrator. 2) The content is amazing. The information is both broad and deep into various elements of language and the history surrounding how English became what it is. 3) The entire subject and its presentation is approachable. I am able to easily listen to it and have been able to have many friends hop in and listen to various episodes in the car and they never feel lost, quite the opposite they are excited to catch the details they heard in the episode and then they go download more themselves afterward! I have never felt that the information is over-the-top professorial in nature, quite the contrary. It is presented in a way that makes we want to learn more and makes me feel smarter :) I hope there are many more episodes to come! Truly an amazing podcast experience! Thank you!

More reviews of The History of English Podcast
The history of English should be a required course in high school. Knowing how languages change over time and are interrelated can really serve to break down all the artificial barriers that cultures erect against one another.

Informative, well-delivered, painstakingly researched. I am a language professor and my partner is a linguist, and we both enjoy this podcast. More, more!

Fascinating history of the English language, tracing its roots all the way back to the so-called Proto Indo-European language of nomadic herders living on the Eurasian Steppes 6,000 years ago.
