Insightful & joyful
Thanks to Howie and James for a great podcast I’ve been a lifetime Essendon tragic & a loyal member for the last 15 years. I will be a James Hird lover for life. Hard to explain why but, every time I listen to James or even watch his highlights I have to draw on all my strength just to stop the tears from welling in my eyes. I’m not even sure why but it feels like I’m caught somewhere between inspiration and a broken heart at times. I was in a restaurant on the Gold Coast in 2015 when James announced he would step down from the coaches position. I had to go home as I couldn’t get a hold of myself emotionally. Time heals all wounds they say but this one lingers on unresolved for me. Is there another chapter in the Essendon book for James? I certainly feel a sense of something unfinished with James and the Bombers. Even so, his health and well-being are far more important to me than what ever my dreams amount too in this regard. On a personal level, I do feel aggrieved by many people in the AFL over the course of the drug saga and believe they should apologise for their part in the past character assasination of James and the players. I live in hope
