Amazing podcast but deserves some improvements.
I’ve been following the Humanist Report (HR) for over 2 years on YouTube. With time I grew more fond of the podcast format when listening to politics and discussions. Now that I have used both formats for a few months I’d like to share what I feel are the biggest flaws of this otherwise great podcast. First, the YouTube format is too present. What I mean is that it is clear that this is an audio compilation directly taken from YouTube. It starts being problematic when we are provided with videos and visual content not described to us in detail as most of the time we do not know what is going on. This affects how we perceive Mike’s commentaries as we are still attempting to understand what could have happened visually. While there is some reading of tweets and other things along the way, the missing bits here and there will always break the flow at some point. I know it is more work, but adding a commentary/description of raw things happening in the video or on graphs otherwise shown on screen when bringing it to podcast format could help. It would improve the podcast greatly to not depend on YouTube to understand. Second, the episode release. Don’t get me wrong, I understand why you release full episodes as opposed to segments. However, this does a huge disservice to this podcast. One of the strengths of HR is staying updated in the world of politics. By the time the episode releases in podcast format I have most likely watched the YouTube version first and/or the news at the beginning of episodes is outdated/late coming. I am not saying the segments should necessarily be published here, but I strongly recommend to publish them in podcast format (potentially on a second page) as they are released on YouTube. Lastly, promote this podcast. It is just great when listening to Mike while traveling. Especially by plane as I download episodes quickly for the flight. However to justify all the effort I pointed out and for it to receive more feedback, all podcast media must be more promoted at the beginning of episodes and with more links. I actually looked into HR here because of TL;DR content that they actively promote. I genuinely think a more active podcast community could help people like me follow politics while busy with other things. On a final note, I really want to stress my support to the Humanist Report and Mike’s views. I am myself from the EU in France and our socialist/capitalist balance, while not perfect, still saves many lives and that’s what I hope the USA can do at some point. Lose that bias and paranoia in favor of solidarity and Respect. We are all humans here and it is important to fight with worlds and convictions and not with violence and destruction. The progressistes of the US would be viewed as Central Left in Western EU, which is where I stand. I hope this comment will help improve the format to spread more the message and make it enjoyable and accessible to all !

More reviews of The Humanist Report
The perspective of this show is much more progressive leftism, not humanism. Disappointing.

Mike is articulate and informed and speaks very eloquently about the issues plaguing our political system and beyond! He's a progressive and also a realist and its great to see more independent media spreading the revolutionary message.Read full review »
