Dr. Saumya Gupta is a professor of modern Indian and European history at Delhi University. Her current research focuses on the social history of cooking in north India, focusing on the Hindi cookbooks. She has been awarded an Indo-Japanese bilateral collaboration grant with Dr. Riho Isaka of Tokyo University for researching ideas of food and body in India from medieval to contemporary times, and is also co -investigator for an international project on "Forgotten Foods: Culinary Memory, Local Heritage and Lost Agricultural Varieties in India.”, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, United Kingdom
