“I’ve been a Pate State homer for several years and evangelized it to numerous friends. But since Saban’s retirement, the podcast has become difficult to wade through. Unless there’s an interview, nearly every B block (behind realignment and reform) is devoted to Bama. I don’t know Josh’s rooting allegiance, but I’ve become convinced he’s a Bama fan since January. It’s almost as if he’s trying to convince the CFB world about kaelin deboer and bama. Deboer could be great—but there’s nothing unique about what’s happened since his hiring. He’s doing the right thing, but nothing to gush over.
This is no knock on Bama—they’re the fulcrum of college football for 15-20 years. But Pate devoted far less airtime to them when they were perennial #1 than he has since Saban’s retirement. Get back to what made this podcast great—an evenhanded approach to the entirety of cfb.
My four-star rating is based solely on pre-retirement, when it was a five-star podcast. Since then, it’s been a one-star podcast.”
