David Mares, Professor of Political Science at the University of California-San Diego, presents a lecture entitled “Energy Policy and Resource Nationalism in Latin America” as part of the Latin American Briefing Series on May 1, 2012, in the Social Sciences Research Building. Mares examines the effects of resource nationalism on energy policy in Latin American countries as he presents his argument on the best conditions for the development of a country’s energy sector. Professor Mares is also the Baker Institute Scholar for Latin American Energy Studies at the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy at Rice University, the Institute of the Americas Chair for Inter-American Affairs , and Director of the Center for Iberian and Latin American Studies.
