Extraordinary courage and determination
This is a powerful and important series of interviews revealing the ongoing harm and trauma caused by systemic failings to deal with bad (criminal) behaviour. Lina Nguyen and Mark Davidson do an incredible job of interviewing one another about their harrowing experiences and the way they were treated appallingly by the NSW police. I am in awe of their courage and determination to bring about change, having heard the enormous toll it has taken on them both. The conversations with experts that follow add even more depth and analysis of their experiences. Producer Gretchen Miller has put these conversations together so expertly, which allows the weight but also the strength of these stories to be deeply felt. Everyone should hear this. Particularly politicians, police, lawyers and students of law, and anyone who has been victims/survivors of our very broken criminal justice/legal systems. Lina and Mark do discuss their experiences in detail in specific episodes (see episode notes if wanting to avoid) but also go on to discuss the psychological, cultural and legal implications of such cases, and I found it a very brave, empowering listen.

More reviews of The Lawyer, the Sniper and the NSW Police
This podcast told a couple of stories that had to be told. The comments are both very personal, but also applied against a very powerful institution with a very powerful individual cohort. We need changes to be made where “whistleblowers “ are supported by their employers.
