“Jake, you are a fine journalist and you do a good job questioning guest on your show.
I would like to suggest that you stop saying “thanks so much,” to them and leave it at a firm “thank you.”
What is the meaning of “thanks SO MUCH?” To me it sounds rather solicitous. It’s as if a “mere” “thank you” is insufficient and one must add the “SO MUCH” so that the one being thanked knows that the one offering gratitude really, really means thanks!!
Try saying “thank you,” instead. It is enough.
