“Hands down my favourite real play podcast. I’ve been listening (and re-listening) for many years now and it’s great how this show has evolved. I basically learnt 80% of how to play Call of Cthulhu through listening. Now I’m Keeping my own games, largely thanks to this. They start also not really knowing the rules using the QuickStart guide and go from there, so it’s like a shared learning experience. Admittedly audio/editing and content-wise the first few episodes are a little rough, so if you have a hard time there I recommend skipping straight to case three when they seem to hit their stride or the one-shots then going back later. I like that it plays out more like what your average CoC game would than a lot of the more ‘professional’ podcasts that seem kind of staged. The roleplaying is fantastic and what I aim for in my own games. In addition the totally real ‘sponsors’ (“If it’s not West, it’s not the best!”) and recommendos are a lot of fun. Oh, side note: I notice some comments said stuff about ‘boys club’ attitude or something. I’m female and if you get past the first episode I really don’t think this is an issue. Not saying they’re wrong, just this hasn’t been my experience as a listener. Plus being on their Discord and talking to the players themselves they’re a really good group of people.”
