Genna Chanelle Hayes speaks to legendary Redfern leader, Uncle Shane Phillips of Tribal Warriors Aboriginal Corp.  Together they discuss Australian settler history, Redfern’s evolution, religion, the police, overcoming addiction and Uncle Shane’s inspiring work returning power to Indigenous Australians through reconnection to culture and community.  • • Shane Phillips was born and raised on "The Block" in Redfern and is an outstanding community leader and respected spokesperson for Aboriginal Australians. He has cultural connections to the Bunjalung, Wonnarua, and Eora peoples. Shane is passionate about the importance of empowering Aboriginal people and is a dedicated contributor to a range of community organisations. In 2020, he was appointed the Indigenous Liaison Officer for the Royal Australian Air Force.
