Liked it more than I expected to!
I’m a mom in Texas. I’m 42. My teen daughter asked for a “Local Optimist” sweatshirt for Christmas, so I researched the brand. (Not sure if you luxury-L.A.-fashion peeps realize this, but what you consider a well priced basic sweatshirt is sort of a status symbol in middle America’s High Schools. Ha!) Anyhow, I got curious about what they stand for, and gave the show a listen. Some podcasts just hit like marketing gimmicks. But this one, I can describe in a very rare and complimentary word: Authentic. Mason would probably make a great liscensed therapist, but he has created his own niche in a more artistic field -fashion- and managed to tailor his life work to offer more than just aesthetic inspiration, but spiritual as well. This in itself is an inspiring thing! I am impressed with what they are doing with this podcast, and hope to see the brand integrate more of these gems of wisdom from the podcast into their marketing and aesthetic, to keep the mission forefront. I was pleasantly surprised to hear (relatively) young humans having highly introspective and vulnerable conversations about such personal moments. I know I didn’t have that level of self awareness and mindfulness at their age. I have only listened to a few shows- Mason was interviewing. His genuine curiosity and warm engagement with each guest, whether speaking with a mental health professional, or a celebrity’s kid, is a great model for young people who want to be authentic seekers of their best life. Mental health is elusive, perhaps more so than physical health, and I appreciate their mission. Listening to the show is like having therapy. Everyone should try it at least once! Also- I graduated from Pepperdine in 2003 so loved hearing that you were on campus at a game when the inspiration for “Mad Happy” hit!

I love listening to this when I go to the park, walking to school, or riding the bus. This really makes me think about my mental health and this just makes me happy, thank to who ever make this.
