3371 - Biden Bombs, Supreme Court Drops Its Bomb w/ Jamelle Bouie

Description
It's Casual Friday! Sam and Emma speak with Jamelle Bouie, opinion columnist at the New York Times and co-host of the Unclear and Present Danger podcast, to recap last night's presidential debate and discuss the other big headlines of the day.  First, Sam and Emma run through updates on last night’s presidential debate, the Supreme Court’s attack on the administrative state (and accountability for January 6th), Oklahoma’s educational union of the church and state, Biden’s immigration and student debt plans, Illinois Amazon driver action, and Israel’s pivot to Lebanon, before watching Claire McCaskill encapsulate the panic of the Democratic establishment and pundit class in the wake of Biden’s alarmingly poor performance at the debate. Jamelle Bouie then joins, as he gives his take on various compounding issues that faced Biden – from his vocal performance to his all-around coherence – before they parse through and highlight some examples, including pivoting a Roe v. Wade conversation to a story about an immigrant rape and a ramble that ends with “we beat medicare.” Next, they unpack some initial reactions from the Democratic establishment and mainstream media (including Biden’s media bromance partner Joe Scarborough), the legitimacy of the call for Biden to step aside, and what the pros and cons of a Biden, Harris, or third-candidate nominee would be. Wrapping up, Bouie, Sam, and Emma briefly unpack the Supreme Court’s newest decision attacking the Chevron Deference Doctrine and the administrative state, how it culminates the conservative project started by Reagan, and what it means for US politics moving forward. And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma dive a little deeper into their post-debate takes, watch CNN’s debate fact-checker show up an hour late, and unpack some of the more mechanical elements that didn’t go Biden’s way. They also watch Tim Pool deny the 2020 election… predictions he made, Dr. Michael Savage exposes the Jewish conspiracy behind the antisemitism of the Squad, and Saul Seder has his most polarizing appearance yet, plus, your calls and IMs!
