Do You Support Trump or Biden? Part 1: Who are Black and Brown Peoples in Philly Hoods Support.
Listen now
Description
In this first episode series exploring the black and brown support for #trump or #biden, #trumpvsbiden, The NeoLiberal Round and The NeoLiberal Corporation took to the streets in the hood of Philly to gauze support in response to another show indicating support growing among blacks in #chicago. We wanted to know if this was the same thing in other black and brown communities and decided to create a podcast series to do just that on The NeoLiberal Round Podcast. We interviewed over 10 people at random, in #philadelphia, some in groups and some individually. The responses were mixed but quite revealing as we found that blacks in #philly were supporting Trump but not all. We delve deep into exploring support for Trump or Biden. We found that most men who are unstable or younger men who lack money and limited exposure to the news, are supporting Trump, while those who are already politically connected are supporting Biden Further, we found that while many are supporting Trump, these same individuals are not actually going out to vote as we asked if they will actually go out to vote on elections day. Many said no but still support Trump. We spoke with only 2 - 3 women, one was very sympathetic towards Trump and would support him, but will not vote. The other is anti-Trump given the issue of abortion rights. Educated and middle-aged men who are college educated and working a stable job seem to be supporting Biden and will vote, and those who are concerned with losing their social services. The interviews were done among several people over several days between March 1 and March 31, 2024. The interviews were raw and done at random within homes on the fly for quick and immediate replies. The video contains strong language nd smoking. The episode was intense, powerful, and compact with strong opinions from the various groups. It was also funny, deep, and yes academic and political since we conducted anthropological research about political issues. Part 2 will be released tomorrow April 2, 2024, at Midnight and will feature residents from #newyorkcity The episode is available in video via YouTube by The NeoLiberal Round Channel, and via Spotify via #theneoliberalround #podcast.
