Michael Rust Carter
Arcing out of left field, comes this absolute belter of a show from Clinical neuropsychologist and Bristol academic Professor Ingram Wright. Stylistically pitched somewhere between Jim Al-Khalilis ‘Life scientific’ and Reeves and Mortimer’s ‘Shooting stars ‘ the show highlights the professional activities of a variety of figures active in the field of contemporary neuropsychology. Guests occupy varying career paths and positions in the hierarchy but are viewed through the lenses of their alternative interests such as media, communication and stand up comedy. Ingram’s delightfully quirky interview persona showcases the lived professional experience of his guests, which is a novel, illuminative and highly entertaining approach. With hilarious plot devices such as the ‘plane or brain’ quiz, the show begs parrallels with Simon Armitages ‘the poet laureate has gone to his shed’ but in many ways surpasses it. Very much hoping that Ingram widens his guest list to include public scientists and specialist clinicians, lm looking forward to hearing new episodes!
