Claire-Louise Bennett
Besides writing beautiful stories that stay with the reader long after reading or hearing them, Claire-Louise Bennett has the most enjoyable reading voice I have heard. Dana Spiotta reads Joy Williams If I were Joy Williams I would be so happy to have Dana Spiotta read my story. Her voice is wonderful and she understands Chicken Hill so well, really cares about it. Which made me like it so much too. I’ve listened to the reading and the talk many times and find something new each time. (This might sound obsessive, but please don’t worry.) At one point in their discussion, Dana and Deborah wondered about the significance of the pink backpack. I wanted to point out that Ruth thought the backpack looked possibly heavier than the child herself and it turned out to be totally empty. Could this have been a symbol of life itself, it’s fullness, and than death when you take nothing with you? Anyway thanks the reading.

More reviews of The New Yorker
I have been thinking that the fiction podcast needs to produce more episodes, since I devoured all of them already 10 times, and now this! All I can say, thank you, thank you, thank you!

I used to enjoy this podcast but over the last coupe of years it has come to specialize in insipid fiction and functions for some reason as just a feminist blog.
