Let’s all ‘just calm down’
There’s been much hype over the move from BBC’s restraints to LBC’s new-found freedoms in political analysis podcast for these seasoned three. And much of it well-deserved as, between them, they have the wit and the tools to make it unique. So, maybe the first week is just them getting started, getting their breath back and looking to settle into this brave new world. I do hope so; they have much insight and analysis to share. Maybe that’s where their initial giddiness and unnecessary reach for jarring comedy and puns comes from; the cringing nicknames for guests and each other; the peculiar structure of the show with sudden, conversational ads right in the middle of conversations; at times, three voices in a dialogue just does not work - once, even a producer is dragged in to add their opinion - and becomes a muddled cacophony. Yet, I will continue to listen. Theirs is too great a pedigree to ignore. And I have faith that they’ll calm down, take the giddy pitch a few notches down, stop using silly puns and nicknames, and just get down to incisive, opinion-shifting and considered analysis of the dire political straits we live in. The task is to speak truth to power. Leave comedy to comedians.

Truss is responsible for not doing essential repairs to Rough the UK’s only gas storage system, which lead to it closing. Nor did you mention how Brexit & privatisation of the market have both made things a whole lot worse.

Absolutely blown away by Emily’s lecture on the current state of our media. I’ve never heard such an insightful and perceptive view of the current climate. Looking forward to the future of this podcast!
