Episode 2/4/24 on Scottish Hate Crime legislation.
This will be the last time I listen to the Newsagents. This episode sought to belittle and undermine an important piece of legislation, passed by Scotland’s democratically elected parliament that seek simply to protect people from hateful comments and abuse. The presenters implied the legislation was unworkable on the basis that it relies on a test of reasonable, when swathes of existing legislation in both criminal and civil law is based on exactly this test. The final ‘jokey’ comments about sectarian, racist and abusive chanting by Rangers supporters illustrates the presenter’s ignorance of matters in Scotland. They literally have no idea of the challenges faced by those at the receiving end of this abuse. This podcast was truly shameful.

Do like this podcast but please replace the music which is like a cheap parody of a superhero soundtrack - so irritating!
