“I started listening to HBO’s Gilded Age podcast and thought it was great to hear a thoughtful discussion of each episode interweaving the real history and writing decisions and character motivations and costume design etc. So then I decided to look up the official podcast for discussion of HOTD episodes, and wow am I shocked by the stark contrast in quality and thoughtfulness. I can’t for the life of me understand why HBO decided to allow a gaggle of ignorant midwits prattle on and on about one of their crown jewel IPs. The only decent parts are when actual members of the production are on, and that represents far too small a proportion of the air time.”
