“I realized watching this show what great television can do for people and relationships. Thinking about Jean Smart made me realize that. I can remember Tuesday mornings with my mother talking about designing women and how much we love the show after I would stay up late on a school night to watch. That show, much like Hacks, detailed dynamic and complicated relationships, between powerful women.
That’s the same reason I fell in love with the first time I saw it with my wife and why I still love it today. I’m going to miss those characters and I can’t wait to see where they go in season four. I do think the Emmys tend to get it right, but I don’t know how they’re gonna be able to split the best actress award between Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder - if there is any justice in the world, they would both win. Thank you for the show and all you do. See you next season.”
