“Being the self appointed wit of the Pakistani Liberal Resistance; Shehzad has managed to do something special - suppress his inability to be unfunny for long enough to have some engaging conversations with an admirably wide array of guests. For me, the Tariq Ali and Jibran Nasir episodes are high points.
The assorted Pakistani communists that have otherwise made it to the TPE are (unintentionally?) exceptionally funny and are apparently passing this gift to their students in the form of passionate Urdu poetry rendered in ghazal form to Herr Karl Marx.
When not being “erased” by the Pakistani state or being massacred online by subtweets from Fidato; Shehzad occasionally - ill advisedly I may venture- invites his fellow jesters to regale us with their stale wares: largely forgettable disquisitions on Tinder rendezvous interspersed with forays into Western philosophy. Shehzad never fails to remind us of his complicated relationship with Hegel. The nether regions exposed by this content are... “earthy”. Huzaifa; if you are out there - get therapy man.
Despite his odious and ill timed and ineffective jabs of frustrations against the Khanate of Pakistan on Twitter; TPE has merits and is worthy of a listen and a reminder that even useless objects can have deep value.”
