“parkrun is one of the simplest and classic ideas of the 21st century.
In time more and more people will begin to find out about it. And in time more and more people will realise what an incredible concept it is and the benefits it can bring.
This light hearted weekly family show, hosted by Danny Norman and Nicola Forwood is a terrific addition to parkrun. It allows for the larger community to discover the latest news and developments wherever they are in the world. Danny and Nicola have provided many excellent event reviews from across the nation (although perhaps one too many from Woodhouse Moor parkrun!). The show provides humour and trivia from across the nations weekly running events to the forefront. They team up well on the show. It is difficult to say why. Perhaps it is because they represent two different groups that attend parkrun? But, in doing, so they agree with the many nuances the free event brings. They are certainly good people, with big hearts and both believe strongly in parkrun. Who knows what the magic is but they do work well together.
Sadly, the podcast will end in its current format this week and will be missed by many. I thank Danny and Nicola for bringing the latest parkrun news to this format but perhaps all good things must come to an end. I am for one just pleased it did exist and I did get to experience it first hand. I also had the pleasure of meeting ‘King Danny’ on show 184 and I was not disappointed. A genuine and extremely kind chap. He is(soon to become was)a key stone to the organisation of parkrun. He will be a credit to anyone who is lucky enough to work with or for him in the future. For the visit and the show I thank Danny and everyone else who has been responsible for bringing this programme into existence. Good luck with everything and fond farewell.
Mike (Chichester parkrun).”
