Complex
My name is Conrad Eby Ms. LGPC. I graduated with a masters in the science of professional counseling and am a licensed graduate professional counselor. I grew up in a very conservative mennonite church, probably one of the strictest ones that drive cars. So I understand where you all are coming from. I was diagnosed in around 2000 with moderate to severe mental illness the result of genetic disposition and misunderstood teaching of the church which caused me severe pain. I have spent five years of weekly psychotherapy along with medication to get to where I am now trying to pass on to others help that was given to me. I in know way want to minimize the pain people have experienced on these episodes. I only want to ask some questions. Do any of you feel the mennonites on the whole have purposeful evil malfeasance intent? And have any of you considered the possibility of getting impressions that were not the intent of those adults whose care you were in? Some of the abused described is so obvious it would be pretty impossible to misinterpret I know. There is types of abuse not that obvious such as psychological abuse. In my counseling work in the city of Cumberland most of our clients are low income receiving some sort of assistance and I work with everyone. I have not referred a client yet because personal bias or prejudice I could not stomach even though many times I get so worked up I need to relieve myself in the bathroom. I saying this to let you all know that I know what is out there, ok. I just warning those who leave Mennonites that there are plenty people out there to hurt you, please choose friends carefully and be very suspicious of almost anyone. There are lots of people out there gaining “freedom” who are hurting other people worse than they were hurt themselves in the process. This is one of the difficulties of abuse that it is so self evident people do not realize when they are abusing in some of the most devastating cases. If anyone would like me to clarify some things I have said that may not be clear please txt me at 301 268 8032

There are some very touching and heartbreaking stories here. I am a Mennonite from a conservative background and I have seen and heard and experienced similar things that these people are talking about and I can relate to some of them. I wish I could leave but I can’t. So anyway thanks for...Read full review »

The only downfall of this podcast is that you have to wait so long in between in each one! 😛 I’ve had my eyes opened to what life is like for some in the conservative circles. Growing up conservative Mennonite for me was not at all like these stories. My parents were Christ followers and then...Read full review »
