Poetry Project: Steve Abbott
In 1979, at age 18, I took a greyhound bus from Philly to San Fran to pursue my passion, poetry. I quickly discovered a brilliant publication, POETRY FLASH, packed full of the info I was looking for: dates and addresses for the numerous open mic readings all over town. It didn’t take long to meet the paper’s editor, poet Steve Abbott. Along with Kush from CLOUD HOUSE, and the UNION OF STREET POETS, I found a real community of poets. Steve was really supportive, and it’s great to see a podcast celebrating his many activities and achievements.
