Description
Gone are the days when the only light source was the sun, and people could only connect in person! These days, our lives are heavily reliant on ubiquitous technology that empowers us to connect, communicate, and process. Technology is highly relied upon for us to do business, deliver education, launch new products, connect with friends and run seminars and conferences. But what effect does this heightened exposure to artificial energy (specifically, high energy blue light) have on the human mechanism and the function of our body's largest organ, the skin. The studies are in and there is some hard evidence that links excessive exposure to impaired barrier function, DNA damage, tissue breakdown and accelerated cutaneous ageing. Today we’re diving into blue light, reviewing some of the science that links exposure to skin dysfunction, how much is too much and what are the side effects, and exploring some practical steps that can assist in managing the side effects.
