I Recommend this Podcast and Book to ALL of my Academic Friends
When going on the job market the first time, I did not use Karen’s book, even though I technically had a grant writing chart that was written by Karen printed out waaaaaaaay back during my master’s degree education. I just didn’t know who Karen was at the time. My original job documents were fine; I got a tenure track position, but they certainly were “weepy” about teaching and were not presenting myself or my accomplishments in the best way possible. Fast forward to my second attempt at the job market, during the COVID-19 pandemic no less, and this podcast has been INVALUABLE. The updated job documents, interview, and campus visit podcasts have been SO helpful along the way. Karen and Kel speak from their experience along with that of their clients in a way that is relatable but also provides the hard facts of what happens at each stage of the job search process. Single Best Segment: The Kayaking Metaphor. IFYKYK.

Having Karen and her team on your side is like having the best advisor you can think of multiplied by time/energy/experience- all...Read full review »
