“Toward the beginning of Covid, I discovered running podcasts, and The Rambling Runner was one of the first ones I came across. Up to that point in my life, I was a VERY casual, intermittent runner, probably averaging about 10 miles/week, and occasionally signing up for a local 5k or 10k. I had done a handful of half marathons over the years, but mostly before having our 3 boys. I had a 13.1 PR of 1:47:53 from 2008 (pre-kids), and never imagined it would be possible to get back to that fitness level.
Then comes The Rambling Runner Podcast. I began listening to story after story after story of “dedicated, amateur runners” who, just like me, had a unique connection with running, but also many various responsibilities pulling them in different directions. I couldn’t get enough of these stories. I started following all of these runners on Instagram, and gradually discovered the entire running community that exists on social media. I was blown away time after time to hear stories about “ordinary” people like me, doing extraordinary things in the running space.
