This is thinly-veiled Lefty propaganda masquerading as ‘Rationality’ to get converts to the cult.
I tried listening to this VERY rational scientist (Believe me, NO one is more rational than Dr. Al ;) ) and subsequently realized *all* of his views are basically NDP or sometimes ‘Liberal’ as per the lefty Canadian tradition and not Classical Liberalism.
Which of Dr. Al’s views are Conservative? None.
Well, he’s not really open about that. That’s the issue I have with him. You have to listen closely and for some hours to figure out that he is politically of the left.
Allow me to be so bold as to quote him somewhat directly, halfway through Episode 3, circa 9 minutes in:
“Cambridge analytica TARGETS the vulnerable using big data from facebook to disrupt democracy to whoever the HIGHEST BIDDER!!! is.
(Subtext: This hyper-successful Right-Wing NGO is PURE EVIL...
But shhhh... forget about the ACLU or other bloviating left wing NGO’s who have been far more successful over the last 50 years at changing culture.)
Now, the Right is openly ANTI-SCIENCE, ANTI-EXPERTISE, ANTI-INTELLECTUAL, ANTI-FREE PRESS AND PRO CORPORATION!!! Thats pretty well the only thing they’re pro.
(Subtext: the Right is evil.)
They SAY they’re pro-life too. But that as you can see in the ongoing debates of covid-19, that is not really true. It’s a flag for a certain issue and it’s mainly driven by religion.
(Subtext: The Right are liars and fake-religious for votes.)
Now the Left, WE’RE tolerant of everything natural. The left is anti-technology though. The left demonizes GMOs which have the power to feed the poor. They demonize nuclear power and glyphosate, roundup, weed killer, and none of this has any scientific basis.
(Side note: Wasn’t roundup found to increase Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphomas?)
The Climate change discussion is a great example of the divide... I’ve been imbroiled in for some time. The oil industry BILLIONAIRES have paid HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS to sow doubt amongst the populists, demonize scientists, environmentalists, and paralyse the political system, so that they can continue TO RAKE IN THE PROFITS WHILE THE EARTH BURNS.
(Subtext: The Earth is definitely burning, and it’s not just a contentious political issue, that is a truth that rich conservatives just don’t care for. I, the ULTRA RATIONAL podcast host, lack the empathy to realise the Conservatives genuinely believe the science behind climate in particular has been politicized. I lack even the basic empathy to suggest maybe they might believe what they say. But don’t worry, Conservatives are lacking in empathy, so we’re even! The left can be unempathetic because of how we constantly suggest the right is unempathetic. It’s not like the left is as bad or possibly much worse in the field of lacking empathy towards their opponents.)
Conservative politicians have PROFITED by selling this story to their constituents. They’ve labelled the popular press as fake news in an effort to SUPPRESS the scientific consensus, and the reality that is mainly brought to you by the MSM.
(Subtext: Conservative politicians are psychologically manipulating the people for political gain.)
Of course, people on the left, and I’m mostly on the left, but I’m more centrist than anything...
(Subtext: The Left are so much more objective, and fair minded, and closer to the “correct” ‘center’ of the political spectrum (wherever that is (which is where the left has placed the ‘center’ which, by definition is closer to their side.))
We need to get to a place where we can talk respectfully. Step out of the echo chamber. Address the OTHER SIDE’S fears (to convince them to come around to YOUR POLITICAL SIDE)...
(Subtext: The Right are merely backward thinking rubes who are only there to be convinced out of their own deeply held political positions by the more intelligent and noble, but more importantly NO ONE IS MORE RATIONAL THAN US, self-appointed sanctimonious “CENTRISTS” who ‘just HAPPEN’ to agree with that self-declared RATIONAL CENTER-left, just accidentally. Not because we call ourselves rational or centrist to seem reasonable. No. Because we ARE RATIONAL AND CENTRIST. NOBODY IS MORE RATIONAL OR CENTRIST THAN US, BELIEVE ME, ACTUALLY DON’T TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, BELIEVE ‘US’!! Pay lip service to respecting their democratically legitimate political positions, but it is the duty of ‘progressives’ to convince these ‘regressives’ out of their backwardness just the same.)”
So, one may *not incorrectly* infer that under his viewpoint the Conservatives have *never* come up with a rational idea. Their opposition to the green communist agenda of climate change is purely irrational.
I don’t believe, incidentally, that he is a real communist having listened to him. He is literally *just* a run of the mill ultra-naïve scientist, who is very capable of reading scientific literature, but who is equally not really aware of how much of his education is really just communist indoctrination. The GOV FUNDED scientists are paid Communist stooges or, sometimes, Corporatist stooges. Both of these interest groups are big government groups. Either way, almost none of them are true blue Tories, and as a consequence, so much of what they put out is politically blinkered in favor of their big government leanings.
Well, if you believe that he is objective, you deserve to listen to this semi-crypto lefty podcast. (Hyperbole, but still.)
The worst part is: Canadian farmers are usually good people. And he probably is. But I would say that he is intellectually infected by communism, through the adjunct path of politically biased scientific literature. And for that I feel bad for him. He’s probably unaware that he’s a useful idiot for the totalitarian cult of Communism / LP/NDP.
This guy is just an accidental commie trying to convince the world that Communism is “forward thinking” or “rational”.”
