A Diamond In The Rough
I recently found myself in search of a new actual play to add to my listening queue. Upon trying the first few episodes, I almost gave up and moved on with my search. But there were a few elements that showed a lot of promise and I decided to power through. I’m glad I did! At the very beginning of this podcast, most of the players had never played D&D before. That definitely made for a rocky start. Then add in that they were literal strangers and you can see why it would take a bit to find their groove. I’m now on episode 15 and it’s really started to come together and everyone is finding their gel point. I listened to a small part of one of the most recent episodes just to confirm that it does become even more polished as time goes on. There’s a lot of jokes and pop culture references. A lot of silliness. But some of the characters show some real depth of emotion and personal conflict (looking at you, Pough!). Best part is that it’s clean and family friendly - not that there isn’t murder and fighting and drama, just that there’s no excess gore, no cursing like a sailor, and no overt sexual overtones. Just a group of people having fun going on an adventure and taking you with them.

This podcast is a lot of fun! There is a lot great characters that are on this adventure but Pooh Bear stands out over all of them. That’s right you read correctly: Pooh Bear. Pooh Bear with two battle axes and he has some new friends. Take a listen. You will not be disappointed.

I have a very short list of actual plays I listen to. In fact, there’s only one actual play on my list. This will be number two. I love the laid back style of the DM John and the really killer cast of voice actors who play their roles with mirth and merriment. Very enjoyable. I’m all in.
