Awe-full
This is a review of the first episode. This podcast intrigued me. As a New Zealand Christian I wasn’t aware of the background to Mars hill. It’s title indicated a potential hit-piece but CT always does a really good job at balance. It created in me real emotional whiplash- listening to mark’s sermon on biblical manhood made me sad that I hadn’t heard his sermons at the time as they really spoke to something I was missing at the time. Then the clip of him talking about the bodies behind the bus made me sick. Then the clip of John MacArthur calling out trump’s sin and then backtracking to be one of his supporters just made me angry. As an elder in the church that has in it’s recent past gone through a moral failure in senior leadership this podcast just shows me the depth of human sin that God is choosing to work with when he chooses to work through his church. The risk that God takes with human beings always astounds me and I am so grateful for the grace of His Son

This is a stellar production, I appreciate the host’s self-reflective approach to the entire discussion. There’s a lot to think about after every episode.

I thought this might be just bashing on a destroyed church but it not. It’s a look back at a mega church that seemed to be so strong. Why did it fall apart and what does that mean for the church as a whole in America today? I don’t know yet, that’s why I’m listening.
