Haidt episode resonates
I read The Happiness Hypothesis when I was 18 in one sitting after being given an adderall. I was young and had been living in my own working full time for a year and struggling after a break up. My mother was bipolar and lots of crap went down. Haidt changed my view on life by incorporating self help with learning about other cultures and inducing critical thinking. Watching this episode resonated heavily with how I feel when approaching speaking my mind and point of view with others. I am told I’m an empath and working that identity you can fall into listening and supporting others but in turn muting your thoughts. Having fear of conversing about personal ideas or politics has consumed me to the point that I just listen and don’t speak my mind. Your podcast is amazing because it shines a light on the human mind and behavior when handling these topics. I want to play the learning game and the get to know you game. What I’m stumped on is how to spread that approach. Thank you for focusing on the subject of how we are handling opposing views and highlighting the somehow not so obvious question “ why are humans behaving this way ?”
