“The news briefs are too short to bother with downloading and deleting; I’m listening for the Amber Guyger trial updates. Daily coverage is good but Jennifer Emily’s obvious bias against Guyger is unprofessional and distracting.
Regardless of what exactly happened, Botham Jean’s death was a senseless tragedy. We all know this. We don’t need a local reporter to play up the sympathy angle and relay to us every time his grieving parents cry, or to editorialize Guyger’s personal life and fashion choices. Emily says things like “Guyger talked about HER feelings and how this affected HER” in an accusatory way, like this is proof that Guyger is making the trial about herself. Then they’ll play a clip where the attorney literally asks Guyger “what are your feelings? How did this affect you?” and she answers because she is on trial and has to. What is the goal of this opinion piece disguised as news?
Please stick to the facts of the case and trial. They’re much more useful. Thanks.”
