Description
Hosts Dallen Stanford & Robin MacDowell are joined by legend Chris Brown for #RugbyHive Episode 12. Brown is the winner of the Capgemini Coach of the Series Award in 2019 for his role with the USA Women’s Eagles, taking them to a Silver Medal finish, their best ever result in history on the HSBC Sevens World Series.   Brown started on the Sevens Series years back with Mike Friday taking charge of Kenya, elevating the Africans to their best ever finish on the Series in 2009, placing number 6 on the planet.  Brown then moved to America with Friday, spending 4 years with the USA Men’s program, turning their results around in dramatic fashion from 13th in the world to 6 in 2018.  It was fitting that Mike Friday stood along Chris Brown accepting the Coach of the Series Award in 2019 with the Men’s USA Eagles placing 2nd on the Series, playing in all 10 semi finals that season.   In this episode we look back to Brown’s upbringing that saw him drop out of High School to play for the All Blacks, we track his amazing journey to South Africa, Kenya and eventually the USA.   We talk about coaching insights into developing world class programs, how Friday and him took the USA Men to their first tournament win on the Series, how the USA Women finished on the podium, and what an extra year could do for his USA Women's 7s side ahead of the Olympic Games in Japan!  We hope you enjoy and follow us on these platforms!
