Resource management is essential, and avoiding engineers feeling like security is always giving them an over-the-shoulder look.  Being part of the engineering team and understanding their world is vital to being a security professional that engineers don't hate. It is challenging to sell security as insurance to engineering leaders who may not see the value in investing time and resources.
