Unnecessary.
Excellent writer he may be, but Capehart is not a natural host. His ‘Hm hms’ after guests’ answers becomes irritating and is clearly a filler to enable him to scan to his next question or teleprompter line. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure he’s a terrific guy but this isn’t his medium. I have to say that weekend shows also tend to do no more than repeat the content that has already been covered as nauseam by the bigger hitters on weekday shows. I suppose many who don’t listen to the leading shows need that weekend catch-up; however, that then deserves someone far more comfortable in front of the mic/camera.
