“Having followed Chris Walker since his cover stories at LA Weekly and Denver’s Westward, I’m excited that he’s grabbing the mic to bring us this trippy, transporting podcast. It takes you to the sub-world of pot, way outside of legal, where you can feel the sticky stank on the sweat of the various characters. I like that Walker doesn’t come out as your “I’ve never inhaled, just covering the story” NPR reporter. He speaks like someone who’s not afraid of the subject, and loves unravelling the conundrum underlying the serial: why would people seek the thrill of crime in cannabis, when the industry is legal? The answer lies in the characters, and they really come alive in this show.
Two episodes under my belt, can’t wait for #3 to drop, because that Cohen guy is a moron, and it’s going to be fun to hear what happens to him, and whether those duffle bags of cash are still out there…”
