Hi guys life in PNG
Love your podcast. I loved living in PNG from 1982 till 84. Suggest u Hector avoid Port Morsby now. V dangerous. We lived in the highlands in Garoka which was great. Very interesting family originally from Kilkenny who dominate the highlands and have big coffee plantations are in Mt. Hagen they are Leahys ( and called Laes) big family then and v famous there. They discovered the highlands in the 1930’s. Really recommend u go to Rabaul where there is an amazing volcano it’s in new IRELAND, as I remember!! Also visit Wewak and Kainantu and u have to visit the Sepik river all amazing place defo they are the highlights. Have so many happy memories of living there including hearing an Irish accent in the middle of an airfield where I worked as an air traffic controller (he was an Irish missionary!) anyway I’ll carry your bags willingly except my husband wouldn’t let me!! Am too old now, but defo let me know how it goes best regards Avril

Find myself trying to work out which of you is talking, but apart from that, this is an excellent bit of sunshine in a grey time, especially for those of us stuck abroad! Thank you!
