“You were talking there about chanting! Have you ever tried’Taizè’?!? It’s absolutely fabulous & enchanting-more importantly-very doable! Taizè is a commune in the south of France. Take the TGV from Paris & a bus to this stunning magical place! Went there back in 1992 with the buddies! Skeptical though we were; we gave it a go! Well, low & behold we had the best craic ever! There was the ceremonies doing the “chanting “ which turned out to be mesmerising much to our surprise! We tried to be the ‘cool’ gang who ‘yera sur we don’t need this carry on’?!?! But we did & it has been an enduring solace over the years of anxious life events & the various crises we all have!!! And the bonus of the trip was; we met a gang of Irish deacons (trainee priests?!?) & they had a car (such luxury)! And in the boot they had those big boxes of wine & a fierce selection of beer! Well we thought-“we’re not allowed alcohol here-?!?” Being the good girls we were! But the lads decided sur Tis grand altogether cause the car is outside the ‘compound’ & we’re almost priests & God says it’s OKAY! Well we had some craic & amazing conversations with these deep thoughtful boys/men! What an absolute waste we (the girls) decided; men we could only dream of meeting & they actually listened & made us feel like we were the most wonderful bunch of women they ever met!!! Yes, we were probably somewhat in love with them; as the late night conversations revealed.... As it happened, they couldn’t be turned & we ended up keeping in touch with them & would you believe; we were invited to their ordinations!!! I really didn’t intend telling all this story-I’ve lost the point I was trying to make???!!! I just wanted to tell you about Tazè chants!?! But I’ve ended up remembering the great fun we had & wondering where these lovely men are now??? I hope they’re doing alright & happy......(lost touch over the years) of course.... With the will of all the Gods, I found a most gorgeous man & we have the best life ever I could have imagined! Despite all the shite we all go through; we have to have the shite times-so valuable! So valuable that we’re now more in love than when we met in ‘95! Don’t know how we got so lucky—- what harm——- we’ll take it & keep it safe....... By the way enjoying the musings & yes this podcast is really very good! YES GOOD PODCAST! ( I’ve totally missed the point of a review-apologies!?!)”
