Hear Me Out... (updated)
Hi I found this podcast looking for a fantasy story and it is amazing! The writing is spectacular, and it had a lot of laugh out loud moments. There’s just a few awkward things that I had to sit through. For one, all the awkward sexual moments. Just replace one of the boys with a girl and it’s still pretty awkward in some places. Also, in season two, I noticed something: a baker really has refused to make a cake for an LGBTQ+ wedding. It was because he was Christian, and he just didn’t support that kind of marriage, and in the end the couple pressed charges against him. I am a Christian, and I don’t appreciate that scene. And then you wrote it so that it was the incompetent Percy planting these seeds of hatred against Amir and Rupert, and I’m downright offended. Please don’t call me homophobic. I just wanted to put my two cents in! It really is well written and performed! Update (spoilers): I finished the third season on Spotify and OH MY GOSH IT’S SO GOOD!!!!!! I absolutely love how they made it a musical, but still had the story make sense! Musicals are my favorite, and the songs in it are almost Broadway level! (Especially Percy and Cecilly’s songs, MAN those were vibes. PLEASE release the album on Spotify! I’d listen to that over and over again! 🎭🎵❤️) It did feel a tad rushed, especially the final battle, but I’m just glad Amir and Rupert finally got to have their wedding! Over the year I’ve discovered I’m panromantic and genderfluid (still proud Christian 🙃) and so I binged the entire series and found it very enjoyable! Still finding some problematic themes, but not enough to say that this podcast was terrible. I also noticed some Christian themes in season 3: S P O I L E R S In church, we learn that the enemy (Satan) tries to deceive you and steal your joy. He tries to make you think you are unworthy of love, and makes you fall into D E S P A I R. But everything he says is a lie, and God will love you no matter what, and with that love you can fight back against the enemy because you know the truth: that God will always love you. No matter who you are, He loves you. He created you, and he will never stop loving you. When Rupert fought off Despair using the love from all the people in his life, it reminded me of how God and the church have always supported me and helped me fight off the lies that I am unworthy of God’s love. I know that’s probably not what they intended, but that’s what I saw. In short, amazing podcast, looking forward to the fourth season (if they make it. Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻)
