“Wonderful and expert observations giving anecdotal color to mostly American portion of The Asia Pacific War. A must listen for students of this history.
Missing, and no doubt beyond the the scope of their endeavor, is the Asian portion of the War which began with the Japanese invasions of Manchuria and China in 1931 and 1939, respectively. Most deaths occurred in China, Vietnam and other southern Asian countries. In response, Roosevelt cut Japan off from American oil supplies, endangering their economy and military power projection. This was continued in part to keep Japan from invading the Soviets in the east and helped Stalin focus all of his resources on defeating Hitler’s forces. Millions of Chinese, Vietnamese and other Asians were killed by the Japanese Imperial Army.
The scope of the podcast series is really limited in general to Japan versus Americans and Australians, and it is wonderful in that regard.”
