Outstanding, informative, inspirational and respectful history here
My highest recommendation to listen and subscribe. I’ve really loved the history of the Second World War, and I’ve carried an armchair historian’s interest in the Pacific Theatre all my life. But I’ve mostly known dates and ships and mechanics and tactics, and less about the men who served. Seth and Bill, together with some outstanding guests, fill in the details for me with a conversational, easy to listen to style that just casually drops in astounding facts with amazing detail. If you know nothing of the history, you’ll find yourself asking “How is any of this real?” and when you know it’s real, you wonder how you’ve never known this before. They share stories of men they know, of men they themselves look up to, and bring a depth of humanity and respect to the stories of all the men and women and the times in which they lived. I very much like how all they highlight the herorism and bravery of soldier, sailer, merchantman and marine without ignoring the brutality that stained the past. Episodes are filled with great tales of inspiration, of leadership, of dogged resiliency, and of compassion towards others. All of this is salted with Bill’s applied knowledge of submarine command to make it feel alive and relevant today. Truly an exceptional podcast.
