“Well, I really used to enjoy The Unbeatable Mind podcast, primarily because of the content, but also because of the authenticity of its host, Mark Divine. I noticed there were some production issues, such as adverts where the product name was misspoken, yet the advert would still run for weeks if not months. It would have annoyed me if I had been paying for the advert, and seemed unprofessional, but it wasn’t anything that distracted from my reason for listening to the podcast.
Now though the podcast has had a makeover, and the last thing you can accuse it of is lacking professionalism. Not all change is for the better though, at least not in my opinion. Now it’s called “The Mark Divine Show”, and there’s even a mailing list you can subscribe to called “Divine Inspiration”.
I’ll be brutally honest here - it doesn’t work for me. I have a sense that the podcast has lost a sizeable portion of its authenticity. It seems like the faults and lack of professionalism the show had before - while still presenting great and inspiring conversations - have been seized on by some media consultancy and used as justification to totally revamp the podcast, and in the process, alienate this listener. I’m still hanging in there - just - but I’m seriously considering dropping the podcast. Even Commander Divine doesn’t seem quite as authentic any longer, it’s as though some of the more ‘media consultant’ things he says don’t feel right for him, and you can hear it, in the same way you can see somebody doesn’t quite feel comfortable in the clothes they’ve been asked to wear.
Anyway, it’s my opinion, and well-meant feedback on a change to the podcast I’m not completely sold on.”
