“I enjoy this podcast. I listen weekly and used to be a silent supporter. More recently though I have felt a shift from the couple’s stance that they won’t speak to be experts on topics, will only share their personal experience and have even had medical professionals on to debunk misinformation. A lot of this shift has come from sharing their experience with their children and almost comes across as shameful to others. I’m not a parent so maybe I can’t understand but I can only imagine how anxious I may feel if I were. With statements (paraphrased) like “this is okay for some people but it’s not okay for me because I hold myself to a high standard” it feel like a type of hierarchy and hypocrisy. I think their point is to be more real with people but as they have a powerful voice, I think it only furthers the divide between “common people” and “influencers.” I’ve just felt a change from their original supportive and down to earth content. I hope the fame isn’t getting to their heads but maybe they’ve just swung too far in the direction of not caring what people think about them. Their voice has influence on people and I hope they realize that in speaking on topics that effect people’s everyday life and medical decisions.”
