“I love this podcast. I find it invaluable.
Host Amy Childs, a veteran unschooling practitioner whose children are now young adults, not only offers her own framing of her topics, but she also emphasizes the perspectives of other family-member practitioners - including parents, children and grown children. Occasionally, Childs has also interviewed guests noted for their expertise on child development and learning. In doing so, Childs and her guests have shed light on real-world unschooling questions, principles and practices.
Childs makes this possible by asking these other practitioners about a given topic, and by smoothly editing their answers into the pleasant flow of each episode. Each roughly 15-20 minute episode focuses on a single topic, and I’m always impressed by how concisely, accessibly and thoroughly each one gets covered.
I want to add that there is something matchless about hearing each person’s voice. Even though I love learning from books, the experience wouldn’t be the same if I were to instead read a transcript of each participant’s comments. Offering this as a podcast brings the experience to life.
Whether you are wondering about different homeschooling methods; are considering unschooling; or are already involved in unschooling (as our 12 year old daughter is, with us) - I highly recommend this podcast. I predict that anyone in any of those areas of interest will learn valuable things by listening. I know that I have, and that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the process.
So thank you, Amy Childs, and all your guests, for making this wonderful podcast possible.”
