10: Jamie Castano on Evolving from Pet Rescue to a Vegan Thanksgiving for the Turkeys
Listen now
Description
Today’s guest is Jamie Castano, cofounder of Freedom Farm Animal Rescue in Cedarville, New Jersey. Join us for a special Thanksgiving episode for the turkeys and get to know Freedom Farm’s “Welcome Committee”! Learn how Jamie & his partner went from meat-eating dog rescuers to opening a farm animal sanctuary and going fully vegan! It is our wish & intention with this episode that you’ll consider the personality and sentience of turkeys and other animals commonly dismissed as food objects – and decide to leave them off your plate through the holidays. Don’t mind the emu drum sounds in the background – this is the first episode that was recorded in person due to the ongoing pandemic! It’s actually background noise, not an emu, but emus do reside at Freedom Farm and fun fact they can make a noise that sounds just like a war drum! Many sanctuaries are also in remote areas/farmlands where internet access is limited. So we are grateful to have been able to meet in person for a volunteer day and interview. You can volunteer, visit, or just support the sanctuary virtually: Follow Freedom Farm on IG: http://www.instagram.com/freedomfarm_animalrescue Add Freedom Farm on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/freedomfarmanimalrescue/ Support Freedom Farm on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/freedomfarmanimalrescue ----- Tune in every week to hear from another epic vegan about how they're embodying their soul's purpose!
