The email server Robbie talked about is lavabit. Edward Snowden’s mails were in it. They refused to hand over information to the NSA and hence had to shut down. They’re back again now.
Several tools for encrypted online data storage are available at spideroak.com. A search engine that doesn’t track your information is DuckDuckGo.
