“Started out really well, the story is compelling, the voices and sound effects are great (although quite frequently people start whispering and you can’t make out anything without cranking the volume up to the max). You really want to keep listening to find out just what is going on. Unfortunately, the more you find out, the more ridiculous the story becomes. More and more plot holes start popping up, and after the hundredth use of deus ex machina to rescue the heroes just in time, you’re left just rolling your eyes, bored, and wondering if the writer is even trying anymore.
The ‘immersive, you’re the main character’ idea is silly in a fun kind of way for the first few episodes, but it quickly gets tiresome, especially when you get stuck listening to really annoying and cringe-inducing monologues again and again because ‘your’ character is only with one other person but won’t ever say anything, no matter how absurd, crazy, and/or utterly evil the other person is. ‘Your’ character is just along for the ride, and never has any sort of even vaguely realistic reaction to anything happening around ‘you’.
Also, as the podcast goes on, it starts hitting you over the head with the writer’s world-view more and more frequently and heavy-handedly. It really detracts from the story, especially when nearly entire episodes just turn into one character lecturing at you.”
