S3E1: Dr. Juvonda Hodge, a Burns Boss
Listen now
Description
For our first episode of Season 3, we are sharing an insightful conversation with a Burns Boss, Dr. Juvonda Hodge. She is currently the Assistant Medical Director at the Grady Memorial Hospital Burn Center. Dr. Hodge sat down with us to discuss her unexpected path to becoming a burn surgeon, the continued need for mentorship throughout her career, and assimilating versus adapting in academia.  She offers astute words of wisdom and tough love to medical students and interns who wish to reach the high bar they’ve set for themselves. In her own words, “Don’t look for validation from anyone, they’re not going to clap for you because you showed up… Be confident in yourself.” In addition, she always makes sure she’s operating to some good music in the OR. As promised in this episode, we’re sharing some of her favorites in WISER playlist, specially curated by Dr. Hodge herself!
